AX Foundation

The AX Foundation was set up with financial and material assistance by AX Holdings just over three years ago and took over the role of the Charitable Welfare Society which for the previous fifteen years had raised considerable sums of money to be used by various organizations for their deserving projects.
 
The main objectives of the AX Foundation includes assisting financially or otherwise members of the Maltese community who are suffering social, physical or mental hardship and to provide assistance to Maltese citizens  in order to enable them to improve their talents and professional standards either locally or abroad. 

 

Donation to St Peter's Foundation - August 2009

 
 
Mrs. Josephine Xuereb, the AX Foundation chairperson, has for the past twenty years been associated with assisting charitable institutions and was instrumental in providing the funds from which a number of individuals as well as organizations benefited.  Notable beneficiaries since the AX Foundation was officially launched on 21st April, 2006 were id-Dar tal-Providenza which was provided with much needed equipment for the Physiotherapy Dept., Caritas with the updating of the San Blas Kitchen; The Little Sisters of the Poor who were provided with bedside cabinets for the elderly in their care; Osanna Pia Hostel which had two of its residents sponsored for a two-year further education course; Needy families in the South of the island who for the past two years have each been provided with hampers of essential items at Christmas time; a Children’s Day Care Centre in B’Kara where rubber matting was provided and installed in their outdoor playing area; Fatima House Hostel whose furnishing was reupholstered.  Last December, The AX Foundation in collaboration with The Valletta Waterfront organized a Collective Bazaar at which the following raised over €10,000 by retaining the proceeds of their sales at the bazaar – Caritas, Dar il-Kaptan, Hospice Movement, Guatemala Mission, Friends of The Little Sisters of the Poor, Assocjazzjoni Voluntarji Lourdes, Mission Fund, Richmond Foundation, Eden Foundation and San Anton School who donated the proceeds of their sales to Puttinu Cares.
 
The AX Foundation is paying in full for nine sick/disabled persons to join the Assocjazzjoni Voluntarji Lourdes on a pilgrimage to the Lourdes Shrine from 28th August to 3rd September, 2009 and has recently organized  a fund-raising BBQ in aid of the St. Peter Foundation, the brainchild of Not. Tonio Spiteri which supplies fish on a monthly basis to 28 different charitable institutions and intends to construct cold room facilities in order to improve the proper storage facilities and distribution of fish.  Not.  Spiteri in thanking the AX Foundation for their assistance said that this sum will be one of the first donations for this project which is awaiting MEPA approval.
